(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE)
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 12, chapter 6, article 12, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 12-716, to read:
12-716. Nonliability for damages that result from use of police tools during peace officer training
Because worker's compensation is the sole and exclusive remedy for peace officers who are injured during training, a peace officer who is injured by a police tool during a course of training may not sue the manufacturer of the police tool or the training provider that provided training in the use of the police tool for damages unless the manufacturer or training provider was grossly negligent or engaged in intentional misconduct.
