Authorizes Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to issue regular alternative fuel license plates for law enforcement vehicles used in an undercover capacity.
Under current law, law enforcement agencies may obtain undercover license plates by submitting a letter of authorization to the Governor or the head of a political subdivision. If the vehicle used in an undercover capacity is an alternative fuel vehicle, ADOT does not have the authority to issue an alternative fuel plate, and is required to issue the standard plate. H.B. 2150 allows ADOT to issue to issue a regular alternative fuel license plate to alternative fuel vehicles used by law enforcement in an undercover capacity.
According to the Motor Vehicle Division,
there is a one-time programming cost of $14,130.
1. Authorizes ADOT to issue regular alternative fuel license plates for vehicles used in an undercover capacity by law enforcement.
2. Provides for a general effective date.
