Continues the Arizona Board of Regents until July 1, 2012.
The Auditor General issued a performance audit report and Sunset review of the Arizona Board of Regents in September of 2001. The following December, the Senate and House Committees of Reference met to consider the Sunset review and adopted a recommendation to extend the termination date for the Arizona Board of Regents for an additional ten years.
The Arizona Board of Regents governs and provides
policy guidance to Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and
the University of Arizona as well as their branch campuses. The Board has oversight in the following
areas within the public university system in Arizona: appointment of university presidents; academic and student
policies and programs; financial policies and procedures; student tuition, fees,
and financial aid; capital projects; strategic planning; legal affairs;
internal audit services; public and governmental outreach; and policies and
benefits for university employees.
The current termination date for the Board is July 1, 2002.
1. Continues the Arizona Board of Regents until July 1, 2012.
2. Makes a technical change.
3. Contains a retroactivity clause of July 1, 2002 for the continuation of the Arizona Board of Regents.
4. Provides for a general effective date, except as otherwise noted.
