SB 1026 appropriates the sum of $80,00 in FY 02-03 from the motorcycle safety fund (MSF) to the Arizona Department of Transportation for voluntary motorcycle education, awareness and other programs established pursuant to the MSF.

 

Current Status

SB 1026 passed the Transportation Committee unamended.

 

History

Arizona Revised Statutes § 28-2010 establishes the MSF.  A one-dollar fee from the nine-dollar Arizona motorcycle registration funds the MSF.  Monies in the fund were subject to legislative appropriation but the current law does not contain an appropriation.

 

Provisions

·        Appropriates $80,000 in FY 02-03 from the motorcycle safety fund (MSF) to the Arizona Department of Transportation for voluntary motorcycle education, awareness and other programs established pursuant to the MSF.

·        Specifies that of the amount appropriated, $40,000 is designated for one full time employee.

·        States that it is the intent of the legislature that the $80,000 appropriation made from the MSF replace the funding from the state highway fund beginning July 1,2002.
