HB 2631 exempts employees of a school district governing board, a community college district governing board and institutions under the jurisdiction of the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) from the lobbyist gift ban on entertainment while attending or participating in any sporting or cultural event or activity sponsored by, and located at a facility owned by, the board, district or institution.  Additionally, if the article is applicable to special events for legislators, it is also applicable to members of ABOR.

 

History

Added by Laws 2000, Chapter 364, Section 4, statute prohibits a lobbyist from paying for the entertainment for a state officer or state employee.   Exempt from this prohibition are entertainment incidental to a speaking engagement and other entertainment in connection with a special event that is properly reported.

 

Provisions

·          Exempts employees of a school district governing board, a community college district governing board and institutions under the jurisdiction of ABOR from the lobbyist gift ban on entertainment while attending or participating in any sporting or cultural event or activity sponsored by, and located at a facility owned by, the board, district or institution.

·          Clarifies that the article, if it is applicable to special events for legislators, additionally applies to members of ABOR.

·          Makes technical and conforming changes.
