As Passed the House

HB 2552 exempts federal peace officers and Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) officers, who are active or honorably retired with a minimum of 10 years of service, from the concealed weapon permit fee and renewal requirements.

History

In Arizona, the guidelines for acquiring a concealed weapons permit include being an Arizona resident or United States citizen, 21 years of age, free of indictments or convictions of felonies, free of mental illness, not unlawfully present in the United States and the completion of a firearms safety training program (which costs an average of $100 depending on the individual training company). In order to acquire and renew a concealed weapons permit, a person must also submit an application, a fingerprint card and a $50 fee to the Department of Public Safety. The application and fee must be submitted and paid every four years in order to renew a concealed weapons permit.
