HB 2488 repeals the prohibition of adults attending vocational education programs in high school buildings during regular school hours.
School districts may offer vocational education programs to pupils regardless of the age or graduation status of the pupil. These programs may operate for longer than the school calendar with expanded hours of service. If a pupil attends an extended year or summer school program on a full-time basis or part-time basis in a joint technological education district, the Arizona Department of Education distributes $26 or $13, respectively, for each day the pupil attends. Additionally, school districts with vocational education programs may charge tuition to offset expenses associated with serving adult students. Currently, persons older than 22 are prohibited from attending vocational programs in high school buildings during regular school hours. HB 2488 repeals this prohibition.
