HB 2483 reduces the civil penalties pertaining to vehicle registration and vehicle insurance violations.
HB 2483 passed the Transportation Committee unamended.
Currently the civil penalty for a vehicle registration violation is $300.00. This penalty may be reduced to $50.00 if the person registers the vehicle. The current civil penalty for the first offense
of operating a vehicle without liability insurance is $250.00. The second offense causes a civil penalty of $500.00 and the third offense is a $750.00 fine.
