HB 2441 prohibits the Director of the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control from issuing a new liquor store license to a business with a drive-through window.

 

Current Status

HB 2441 failed to pass the Commerce and Economic Development Committee.

 

History

The Director of the Department is required to maintain a listing of the type and number of liquor licenses issued in each county.  Based on the population increase per county, the Director has the authority to issue new licenses in various categories, depending on the total population increase.

 

HB 2441 establishes that the Director shall not issue a new liquor store license to any business that will maintain a drive through mechanism for purchasing liquor. 

 

Provisions

·          Prohibits the director of the Liquor Department from issuing a new liquor license to a business that does not require the consumer to leave the consumer's automobile in order to make a liquor purchase. 

·          This mandate is effective beginning September 1, 2002.
