As Passed the House

HB 2268 allows fire districts, under certain conditions, to apply for monies in the State Lake Improvement Fund.

Summary of the proposed strike-everything amendment to HB 2268:

History

Current statute does not prohibit the transportation of dogs in the bed of a motortruck or a pickup truck, or inside a convertible vehicle with a top that is lowered.

Provisions

·              Prohibits transporting dogs on a state highway inside a convertible vehicle with a top that is open, or in the bed of a motortruck or pickup truck unless the dog is caged, tethered, or transported in an enclosed camper or camper shell that prevents the dog from being discharged from the bed of that vehicle.

·              Makes the transportation of dogs in the bed of a pickup truck outside of a cage or inside a convertible vehicle with a top that is open punishable by a civil penalty of $50.

·              Exempts farmers that are only incidentally operating a vehicle on a state highway and closed convertible vehicles from the regulations outlined in the bill.

·              Defines the terms convertible; motortruck; and pickup truck.
