HB 2201 appropriates $8,000,000 in FY 2002-03 and 2003-04 from the state general fund to the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission (ACJC) for distribution to the boards of supervisors of the border counties to partially offset the criminal justice costs and emergency medical costs that are associated with the illegal immigrant population.

Current Status

HB 2201 passed the Public Institutions & Rural Affairs Committee and the Judiciary Committee unamended.

Provisions

·              Appropriates $8,000,000 in both FY 2002-03 and 2003-04 from the general fund to the ACJC for distribution to the border counties to help offset the costs of criminal justice and emergency medical services associated with illegal immigrants.

·              States the monies shall be disbursed as follows:
