HB 2113 makes a technical correction to the Arizona Poison Control System funding statute.

 

Current status

The Committee of the Whole adopted the Health Committee strike-everything amendment expanding the oversight of the Human Rights Committee on the Mentally Ill to include non-seriously mentally ill persons who receive behavioral health treatment through the Department of Health Services.

 

History

Laws 2000, Chapter 35, established three human rights committees within the Department of Health Services (DHS) and the Department of Economic Security to promote the rights of persons who receive services. 

 

The DHS Human Rights Committee on the Mentally Ill currently provides services for seriously mentally ill persons.  The strike-everything amendment adds non-seriously mentally ill persons that are treated by Regional Behavioral Health Authorities to the committee.

 

Provisions on the Strike Everything Amendment

·          Expands the Human Rights Committee within the DHS to include non-seriously mentally ill persons who receive behavioral health treatment covered under Title 36, Chapter 34.

·          Makes act effective January 1, 2004.
