Purpose

 

Conforms statute relating to the time period a child can be held in temporary custody.

 

Background

           

            Laws 2000, Chapter 285 increased the time frame in which a child may be held in temporary custody from 48 hours to 72 hours. This legislation conforms ARS sections 8-821 and 8-823 to reflect changes made by Laws 2000, Chapter 285.

 

Provisions

 

1.      Conforms statute increasing, from 48 to 72 hours, the time frame a child may be held in temporary custody by a peace officer or Child Protective Services.

 

2.      Provides for a general effective date.
