SB 1301 extends the Medical Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners for five years.  Contains a Prop 108 clause for a fee increase.

History

The Medical Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (Board) is a division of the Radiation Regulatory Agency responsible for maintaining the health and safety of individuals against the harmful effects of excessive and improper exposure to medically applied ionizing radiation.  The Board establishes minimum standards for education and training of ionizing machine operators and approves schools of radiologic and practical technology. 

 

Provisions

·                      Removes recognition of the Committee on Allied Health Accreditation and adds the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology for determining standards for approving a school of radiologic technology.

·                      Establishes a fee of ten dollars for a replacement certificate.  Increases the examination fee from sixty to seventy dollars.

·                      Allows the Board or Board chairman to designate a representative to approve or deny applications for certification.

·                      Changes the expiration for temporary certificates from ninety to thirty days.

·                      Establishes a termination date of the Board on July 1, 2006.

·                      Contains a Proposition 108 clause.
