SB 1286 increases the statutory expenditure limits on state health and accident coverage for state employees and their dependents.

History

The Department of Administration (DOA) is authorized to expend public monies to procure health and accident coverage for full-time officers, employees of the state and its departments and agencies and their dependents.  DOA is required to seek a variety of plans, including indemnity health insurance, hospital and medical service plans, dental plans and health maintenance organizations.   It is required that the Arizona health care cost containment system be a qualifying plan for the provision of health and accident coverage for state employees, however, not the exclusive plan offered to them.  Current law caps the expenditure of public monies for individual coverage at $215 and $460 for family coverage.
