SB 1267 allows all public employees of a political subdivision to join an employee association and present proposals to the governing board of any political subdivision.

History

Current law allows public safety employees serving in any city, town, county or fire district in the state to join an employee association and present proposals and testimony to the governing body of any city, town, county or fire district and their representatives. The law also prohibits any person from being discharged, discriminated or disciplined because they are a member of an employee association.

Provisions

·              Expands the right to join an employee association to any public employee serving in a political subdivision in this state.

·              Allows employee associations to present testimony and proposals to the governing board of any political subdivision and its representatives.

SB 1267 passed the Public Institutions & Rural Affairs Committee unamended.
