SB 1235 prescribes information each state agency shall include in their registry to the Department of Health Services (DHS) regarding juvenile group homes and clarifies that the information be updated semiannually.

History

Laws passed in 2000 established requirements for state agencies and numerous other provisions pertaining to juvenile group homes. Among the responsibilities placed on these state agencies, DHS is required to establish a central registry of the licensed juvenile group homes in Arizona by January 1, 2002. Currently, each agency is required to provide updated information on a regular basis regarding the location and contacts of group homes to DHS for registry compilation. SB 1235 specifically outlines the provisions included in the registry and clarifies that the information required of agencies involved with juvenile group homes shall be submitted to DHS every six months.

Provisions

· Clarifies which state agencies shall provide updated information to DHS for the registry.

· Requires the registry information be provided on a quarterly basis.

· Specifies the registry to include:

Ø Location of group home

Ø Number of group home residents

Ø Updated emergency contacts for each group home

Ø Updated contacts for each group home licensing authority

· Requires DHS to provide information from the registry to the municipality in which a group home is located every six months, if requested by the municipality.

· Makes technical and conforming changes.
