This bill as introduced contains an Appropriation clause.

As Passed the House

SB 1220 appropriates $25,000 in FY 2001-02 and in FY 2002-03 from the general fund to the State Personnel Board (Board).

History

The Board is required to prepare official records of state personnel hearings, and prior to 1998, the Board provided in-house transcription of these hearings at the request of any party at no cost.  In 1998, the Auditor General conducted a performance cost analysis resulting in the Board no longer providing in-house transcription.  A party could request a copy of the tapes of the hearing and reimburse the Board for the tapes.  Laws 2000, Chapter 21 states that a party may request the transcription of a personnel hearing if the party pays an outside entity for the transcription.

SB 1220 requires the Board to provide the personnel hearing transcriptions at no cost to either party.

Provisions

·                      Requires the Board to transcribe the record verbatim at no cost to either party if either party requests the transcription of the official record of the hearing.

·                      Appropriates $25,000 in FY 2001-02 and in FY 2002-03 from the general fund to the Board.

SB 1220 passed the Retirement and Government Operations Committee unamended.
