SB 1219 modifies the time that wagering may begin on simulcast greyhound races.
According to the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, simulcast is a simultaneous live television transmission of a race to other tracks, off-track betting offices or other outlets for the purpose of wagering.
Current law allows live racing and wagering on simulcast races to be conducted in either daytime or nighttime, but prohibits dog racing and horse racing to be conducted at the same time. Wagering on simulcast dog races may not begin before 4:30 P.M., Mountain Standard Time on days when live horse racing occurs. Similarly, wagering on simulcast horse races may not occur after 7:30 P.M. on days when live dog races are run.
· Allows wagering on simulcast dog races to begin at 4:15 P.M. (MST) , rather than 4:30 P.M., on days when live horse racing is conducted in the same county.
