As Passed the House

SB 1197 transfers from the Department of Health Services to the Arizona Disease Control Research Commission the authority to administer the Health Research Account.

History

Current law provides for monies in the Tobacco Tax and Health Care Fund (tobacco tax collections) to be transferred to four specific accounts including: 1) the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) Medically Needy Account; 2) the Department of Health Services (DHS) Health Education Account; 3) DHS Health Research Account (Account); and 4) the Department of Correction Corrections Fund.

Presently, DHS administers the Health Research Account.  SB 1197 removes DHS from the administering the monies and gives the authority to the Commission.

SB 1197 was amended in the Health Committee as follows:

·        Page 1, line 12 strikes THAT and reinserts which.

SB 1197 passed the Appropriations Committee unamended.

The Health Committee amendment was adopted in the Committee of the Whole.
