SB 1121 allows the Department of Veterans’ Services to acquire property to establish and operate veteran cemeteries.

 

Provisions

·                      Allows the Department of Veterans’ Services to acquire property to establish and operate veteran cemeteries.

·                      Establishes the State Veterans’ Cemetery Fund.

·                      Requires that the fund consist of monies appropriated by the legislature and federal monies received for veterans’ cemeteries.

·                       States that monies in the fund:

·                      Must be used to acquire property and establish state veterans’ cemeteries.

·                      Are to be continuously appropriated.

·                      Are exempt from lapsing.

 

SB 1121 Passed the Military, Veteran Affairs and Aviation Committee unamended.

 

SB 1121 was amended in the Appropriations Committee as follows:

s         Stipulates that federal monies intended to reimburse the state General Fund would in fact revert to the General Fund instead of being deposited in the State Veterans’ Cemetery Fund.
