SB 1071 appropriates $351,052.86 from the state general fund and $371,534.14 from other funds to the Department of Administration (ADOA) to settle claims made against several state agencies.
Each year, a number of claims made against state agencies remain unpaid due to inadequate documentation, late filings and searches for third party liability. In order to pay claims from previous fiscal years, the Legislature must appropriate monies to ADOA for this purpose.
SB 1071 is the annual "relief for named claimants" bill, reflecting the Department of Administration’s request to the Legislature for an appropriation of monies sufficient for the payment of the claims made against state agencies by individuals and organizations who provided goods or services to those agencies in a previous fiscal year but who have yet to receive payment.
