HR 2003 pursuant to the authority of article v, section 12 of the Constitution of Arizona and section 41-1904 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, specifically disapproves all of the Governor’s salary recommendations.

 

History

In accordance with the Arizona Constitution and the Arizona Revised Statutes § 41- 1904, the Governor is required to include in his/her budget recommendations to the Legislature, salary recommendations for elected state officers. These recommendations shall become effective the first Monday of the January of the next calendar year following the recommendations, unless either chamber of the Legislature specifically disapproves of the recommendations or a statute has been enacted that establishes different rates of pay.

 

Provisions

·                      Exercises the House of Representatives’ Constitutional right to nullify the Governor’s salary recommendations for elected state officers by specifically disapproving the recommendations through a resolution.

 

HR 2003 was amended in the Appropriations Committee as follows:

s         Allowed for the salary increase for the Clerks of the Superior Courts.
