HB 2618 appropriates $500,000 from the state general fund in each of fiscal years 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 to the Department of Education to establish a three-year model training program for entry level health care workers in Pima County.

 

Provisions

·                      Appropriates $500,000 from the state general fund in fiscal years 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 to the Department of Education to establish an adult education qualified health care labor pool program for a three-year model training program for entry level health care workers.  The appropriation is exempt from lapsing.

·                      Provides that the Adult Education Division in the Department of Education shall request proposals from non profit training institutions in Pima county for the purpose of awarding a three-year contract to train entry level workers for employers.

·                      Eligible training institutions shall demonstrate success in obtaining general fund monies from at least two local government jurisdictions in the last three years for the purpose of training entry level workers and that has a successful employment rate of at least eighty per cent for its program graduates.

·                      Requires the training institution shall make a report on the program to the superintendent of public instruction at the end of each fiscal year.
