HB 2609 establishes a section of statute creating mandatory reporting requirements for a  Department of Economic Security Child Protective Service (CPS) worker who, if during the course of an investigation uncovers evidence of a crime or has reason to believe that a person is an illegal alien, must report the findings to the appropriate law enforcement agency.

 

Provisions

·                      Requires a CPS worker to report any evidence of a crime uncovered during a CPS investigation to the appropriate law enforcement agency.

·                      Declares that if during the course of an investigation a CPS worker has reasonable cause to believe a person is an illegal alien, the CPS worker shall submit such information to the local Immigration and Naturalization Services office.
