HB 2595 requires the
Arizona State Board of Education to adopt rules for evaluating school
performance and prescribes ratings.
Proposed strike-everything amendment to HB 2595
Current law requires the
Department of Health Services [DHS] to administer and deposit five cents of
each Tobacco Tax and Health Care Fund dollar into the Health Research Account
for research on preventing and treating tobacco-related disease and
addiction. The monies deposited in the
Health Research Account must be used to supplement legislatively appropriated
monies for health research purposes and not to supplant legislatively
appropriated monies. DHS deposits
monies from the Health Research Account into the Health Research Fund [Fund]
and directs the Arizona Disease Control Research Commission [Commission] to
administer the fund. The Commission
shall use the monies in the Fund for research on the prevention and treatment
of tobacco related diseases and addictions, including behavioral studies.
The strike-everything
amendment allows the monies in the Fund to be additionally used for the
following:
¨
Research into the causes, the epidemiology and diagnosis,
the formulation of cures, the medically accepted treatment or the prevention of
diseases including new drug discovery and development.
