This bill as introduced contains an Appropriation clause.

As Passed the House

HB 2559 appropriates an unspecified amount from the general fund to the department of education for joint technological education districts for extended year and summer programs.

History

Laws 1999, 1st Special Session, Chapter 4 provided that subject to legislative appropriation, the Department of Education shall distribute $26 per day for each full-time student and $13 per day for each part-time student that attends an extended year or summer school program in a joint technological education district.  In fiscal years 1999-2000 and 2000-2001, $600,000 was appropriated for this purpose.  At this time there were two joint technological districts.

The current JLBC budget recommendation continues to appropriate the $600,000 in both fiscal years 2001-2002 and 2002-2003.  In November 2000 six more technological school districts were formed and can begin operation in July 2001.
