HB 2553 appropriates $100,000 from the state general fund to the University of Arizona for a one-year telemedicine pilot program at a school district.
Telemedicine is the provision of medical services at a distance using either interactive video technologies or store-and-forward technologies (taking single, digital images or galleries of digital images, and sending them over the telecommunication system). The program has its headquarters and hub in Tucson at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Currently, this program is being implemented in 24 rural sites around this state.
