            HB 2550 changes the Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) relating to time limitations for filing criminal complaints.

 

History

            Currently, only three crimes are exempt from a statute limiting the time to file a criminal complaint.  These crimes are as follows:

 

1.      Homicide.

2.      Misuse of public monies.

3.      Felony involving falsification of public records.

 

Provisions

·                      Adds any sexual offense or any sexual exploitation of a minor that is a class 2 felony, and any violent sexual assaults pursuant to ARS section13-1423,  as well as attempts to commit these crimes to the class of prosecutions for which there are no time limitations for filing a complaint.
