HB 2547 allows local government agents to construct various recreational projects with volunteer workers or workers provided by a nonprofit organization without advertising for bids.

History

Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.) §34-201 states that local government agents may construct certain projects without advertising for bids if certain conditions are met. The criteria for each procurement exemption differ, depending on the type and nature of the project. For example, an agent may construct any street, road or bridge without advertising for bids, as long as the total cost of the project does not exceed a certain dollar amount.

Provisions

·               Stipulates that local government agents may construct recreational projects, including trails, playgrounds, ballparks and other similar facilities with volunteer workers or workers provided by a nonprofit organization, without advertising for bids.

·               Excludes buildings, structures, building additions and alterations for buildings, structure and building additions from the volunteer and nonprofit organization worker procurement exemption.

·               Makes other technical and conforming changes.
