HB 2535 appropriates $50,000 in each of the fiscal years 2001-02 and 2002-03 to place automated external defibrillators in state and local government buildings.

Provisions

·                      Appropriates $50,000 in each of the fiscal years 2001-02 and 2002-03 to place automated external defibrillators in state and local government buildings.

·                      Provides that the monies are appropriated from the emergency medical services operating fund to the Department of Administration (DOA).

·                      Requires the Department of Administration (DOA) to consult with the Department of Health Services (DHS) and the American Heart Association to determine the locations to place automated external defibrillators in state and local government buildings.

 

·                      Stipulates that  those entities study the following issues when making their determination of locations:

·                      Selection of public buildings with consideration given to government buildings accessible to the public.

·                      Details of purchases, placement, medical direction, oversight and maintenance.

·                      Integration of defibrillators with existing emergency medical services.

·                      Require trained responders receive training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and in the use of automated external defibrillators.

·                      Exempts the appropriations from lapsing.

·                      Requires a report be submitted to the Governor, Speaker of the House and President of the Senate no later than November 1, 2001.

·                      Stipulates that no monies will be dispersed until the report has been submitted.

·                      Makes technical and conforming changes.
