HB 2533 appropriates $6,959,590 from the state general fund in fiscal year (FY) 2001-02 to the Department of Economic Security (DES) for the construction of Navajo senior centers, and $4 million in FY 2002-2003 for the construction of senior centers with the condition that the Navajo Nation provides $2 million, and $400,000 in FY 2002-2003 for the construction of the villages of Tewa and Bacavi.
HB 2533 was amended in the Native American
Affairs Committee as follows:
· Appropriates 1,580,000 dollars in FY 2001-2002 to the DES for the construction of Navajo senior centers in Teesto, LeChee, Low Mountain, Fort Defiance, Rough Springs and Bird Springs.
· Appropriates 4,600,000 dollars to the DES in FY 2002-03 for the construction of Navajo senior centers in Dennehotso, Dilcon, Mexican Water, Cove, Blue Gap, Greaswood Springs, Chilchinbeto, White Cone, Sweetwater, Wide Ruins, and Hard Rock.
· Provides for an appropriation of 300,000 dollars to the DES in FY 2001-02 for a construction of a Hopi senior center in Kykotsmovi.
· Provides for an appropriation of 479,590 dollars to the DES in FY 2002-03 for a construction of two Hopi senior centers in Hotevilla and First Mesa Co.
· Removes the appropriation of $4 million in FY 2002-03 to the DES for the construction of Navajo senior centers.
· Removes the appropriation of $400,000 in FY 2002-03 to the DES for the construction of the villages of Tewa and Bacavi.
