HB 2533 appropriates $6,959,590 from the state general fund in fiscal year (FY) 2001-02 to the Department of Economic Security (DES) for the construction of Navajo senior centers, and $4 million in FY 2002-2003 for the construction of senior centers with the condition that the Navajo Nation provides $2 million, and $400,000 in FY 2002-2003 for the construction of the villages Tewa and Bacavi.

Provisions

· Appropriates $6,959,590 from the state general fund in FY 2001-02 to the Department of Economic Security for the construction of Navajo senior centers in Teesto, LeChee, Low Mountain, Fort Defiance, Rough Springs, Bird Springs, Dennehotso, Dilcon, Mexican Water, Cove, Blue Gap, Greaswood Springs, Chilchinbeto, White Cone, Sweetwater, Wide Ruins and Hard Rock.

· Appropriates $779,590 from the state general fund in fiscal year 2001-02 to the DES for the construction of senior centers in Kykotsmovi, Hotevilla, and First Mesa Co.

· Appropriates $400,000 from the state general fund in fiscal year 2002-03 to the DES for the construction of the villages Tewa and Bacani.

· Prohibits the DES, the Navajo Nation or the Hopi Nation from using the appropriated monies to pay for administrating costs associated with the senior centers.

· Exempts the appropriations from lapsing.
