HB 2521 modifies various state agency mandates relating to the Arizona Mexico commission.
The Arizona Mexico commission was established in 1959 by Arizona governor Paul J. Fannin. The commission consists of ten working committees who formulate programs and action items relating to issues that impact the Arizona-Mexico relationship.
Currently the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Economic Security, Environmental Quality, Health Services and Transportation have mandates that allow for collaboration with the Arizona Mexico commission in the gathering of data in the State of Sonora.
The Arizona Mexico commission collaborates with public and private sector leaders to initiate and implement binational projects for the residents of the Arizona-Mexico border region.
