HB 2502 requires those regulated by the Arizona Board of Technical Registration to pay collaborating professionals within seven days of receiving payment from the client.

 

History

The Board of Technical Registration was established in 1921. The Board is a regulatory agency for six design and technical professions: architecture, assaying, engineering, geology, landscape architecture and land surveying.

 

HB 2502 repeals Laws 2000, Chapter 193, Section 269; this repeal provision is additionally included in HB 2038, Legislative Council's technical corrections bill. 

 

HB 2502 requires prime professionals who contract with collaborating registered professionals to pay those professionals within seven days of receiving payment from the client.

 

Provisions

·                      Allows the board to issue letters of concern regarding home inspectors.

·                      Requires that a collaborating registered professional be paid within seven calendar days from the registrant’s receipt of payment.

·                      Defines firm and principal and clarifies that the firm must be registered with the board and under full authority of the principal registrant.

·                      Clarifies requirements for registration.

·                      Repeals Laws 2000, Chapter 193, Section 269, which has been blended into the statutes.

·                      Allows an exception to the seven-day limitation as long as both parties contractually agree.
