HB 2488 makes a technical change in Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.) §41-1610.04 relating to the annual report of the Joint Select Committee on Corrections.

Summary of the proposed strike-everything amendment to HB 2488:

Provisions

·              Appropriates $350,000 from the state general fund in fiscal year (FY) 2001-2002 to the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission for distribution to counties to improve rural public safety communications, with priority going to areas devoid of radio communications.

·              Requires the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission to submit a report to the governor, speaker of the House of Representatives and the president of the Senate, describing how the appropriated money was used to improve rural public safety communications.

·              Exempts the appropriation from the provisions of A.R.S. §35-190, relating to the lapsing of appropriations.

The strike-everything amendment was adopted in the Public Institutions and Rural Affairs Committee.
