HB 2456 appropriates $500,000 in FY 2001-2002 and FY 2002-2003 from the state general fund to the Department of Health Services (DHS) for community immunization programs at community health centers.

History

Until 1998, community health centers received immunization funding through grants provided by the Center for Disease Control through the DHS. In FY 2000, the Legislature appropriated $280,000 for community center immunization. Vaccines are used to prevent diseases such as hepatitis, diphtheria, influenza, measles, etc.

Provisions

· Appropriates $500,000 from the state general fund in FY 2001-2002 and FY 2002-2003 to DHS for community immunization programs at community health centers.

· Provides $425,000 for immunization programs and $75,000 to maintain partnership with the private health care sector to improve vaccine delivery and program outreach.

· Exempts the appropriations from lapsing.
