Overview

Currently competitive electric generation services are exempt from the State’s antitrust exemption statutes.  HB 2447 expands current law to include competitive telecommunication services.

 

 

Provisions

·                      Excludes competitive telecommunication services from being exempted from the uniform state antitrust act.

 

HB 2447 passed the Committee on Energy Utilities and Technology unamended.

 

HB 2447 was amended in the Committee on Commerce and Economic Development as follows:

·        Adds a purpose clause stating that competitive telecommunications services are no longer exempt from antitrust laws.

·        States the telecommunication service antitrust exemption is not intended to address the legality of contracts or the applicable law related to the contracts entered into between telecommunication service providers and owners or managers of large buildings or residential apartment complexes.
