HB 2414 repeals the crimes of cohabitation, sodomy, and lewd and lascivious acts.

 

History

 

Arizona law currently prohibits a person from living in a state of open and notorious cohabitation or adultery and from knowingly and without force committing the infamous crime against nature, more commonly known as sodomy.  Also prohibited is the knowing commission, without force, of any lewd or lascivious act upon another person.

 

Provisions

 

·                      Repeals Arizona’s law against cohabitation, sodomy, and the law prohibiting lewd and lascivious acts.  Currently a violation of each statute is a Class 3 misdemeanor (up to 30 days in jail/up to $500 fine).

 

·                      Makes technical and conforming changes.
