HB 2385 establishes the Eviction Prevention Program.

 

Provisions of Strike Everything Amendment

·                      Establishes the Eviction Prevention and Homeless Housing Services Assistance Program (Program) will be administered by the Department of Commerce (DOC) with the consultation of the Department of Economic Security.

·                      Specifies that the Eviction Prevention Program may include:

·                      Eviction prevention for renters.

·                      Mortgage foreclosure for owners.

·                      Financial counseling for eviction prevention and mortgage foreclosure.

·                      Vouchers for hotels and motels.

·                      Rental security and utility deposits.

·                      Utility assistance.

·                      Short term rental assistance.

·                      Other approved homeless housing services.

·                      Establishes the Program fund, to be administered by DOC.

·                      States that the funding will consist of:

·                      Monies appropriated to the fund by the legislature, to be exempt from lapsing.

·                      Monies transferred to the Housing Trust fund from the proceeds of sales of abandoned properties.

·                      Stipulates that distribution of funds across the state will be on a needs-based formula determined by DOC.

·                      Terminates the Program on July 1, 2010.
