HB 2353 establishes a duty station for each member of the boards of supervisors.

History

Current law allows members of the boards of supervisors living outside the limits of the county seat mileage from their home to the limits of the county seat when attending board meetings. In addition, members of the board whose permanent place of residence is more than 50 miles from the county seat limits may receive reimbursement for actual expenses, at the rate of no more than 15 dollars for each day while attending board meetings or performing other related duties. The board shall approve reimbursement for such expenses by a vote of its members. HB 2353 repeals the aforementioned law and establishes duty stations for each board member at an appropriate location in the county.

Provisions

· Requires boards of supervisors to establish a duty station for each board member at an appropriate location in the county.

· Defines duty station as the place where the board member spends the largest portion of the board member’s regular workday or working time.

· Requires the members of the board of supervisors to follow the county travel policy.

· Repeals existing statute relating to the reimbursement of a member of the board of supervisors for travel expenses incurred when a member lives outside the seat or more than 50 miles away.

HB 2353 passed the Counties & Municipalities Committee unamended.
