HB2338 expands the powers of the Department of Veterans’ Services to include building a veteran’s home in Southern Arizona.

 

History

Statute 41-603 established the powers and duties of the Department of Veterans’ Services with regards to aiding veterans.

 

Provisions

·                      Allows the Department of Veterans’ Services to acquire, construct and operate a veterans’ home in Southern Arizona.

·                      Makes an unspecified, non-lapsing appropriation from the state general fund in FY 2001-2002 to the Department to begin negotiations with the federal government for the Southern Arizona Veterans’ Home facility to be located on the campus of the Veterans’ Administration Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona.

 

HB2338 passed the Military, Veterans’ Affairs and Aviation committee unamended.

 

HB 2338 was amended in the Appropriations Committee as follows:

·                      Inserted a $50,000 figure into the blank appropriation amount.
