HB2336 expands the powers and duties of the Department of Veterans’ Services to include acquiring, establishing and operating cemeteries for veterans. The bill also deals with the funding required for this new power.

 

History

Statute 41-603 established the powers and duties of the Department of Veterans’ Services.

 

Provisions

·                      Grants the Department of Veterans’ Services the ability to acquire, establish and operate cemeteries for veterans.

·                      Specifies that the fund shall consist of funds appropriated by the legislature and federal monies received for State Veterans’ Cemeteries.

·                      Specifies that monies in the fund shall be used to acquire and establish property for Veterans’ Cemeteries, the monies will be continuously appropriated and the monies are exempt from the provisions relating to lapsing of appropriations.

HB2326 passed by the Military, Veterans Affairs and Aviation committee unamended.
