HB 2335 allows private fire fighter corporations contracted by a fire district to participate in the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS). 

 

History

ARS §38-842 provides for the definition section of PSPRS.  Within this section of law (ARS  §38-842, paragraph 13), eligible groups are listed and states that these groups must be regularly assigned to hazardous duty.   Paragraph 13 also prohibits fire fighters employed by a fire district pursuant to a contract with a corporation from participating in PSPRS.

 

 

Provisions

·                      Removes the prohibition that fire fighters employed with a corporation and contracted by a fire district cannot participate in PSPRS.

 

·                      Adds full-time fire fighters of a corporation and contracted by a fire district as eligible groups within PSPRS.
