HB 2306 makes an appropriation to the department of economic security for the Navajo nation to plan, design and construct or lease offices for temporary assistance for needy families services.

 

 

Provisions

·                      Appropriates $500,000 from the state general fund for FY 2001-2002, 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 to the department of economic security for disbursement to the Navajo nation for planning, designing and constructing or leasing offices for assistance for needy families services in Fort Defiance, Dilkon, Tuba City, Kayenta, Chinle, Newlands (Sanders), and St. Michaels.

 

·                      Requires that the appropriations meet the following conditions:

·                      Must have the approval of the United States department of health and human services.

·                      The withdrawal of land by the local Navajo community chapters for each office site, where applicable.

·                      The co-location of state financial assistance employees at each office site area, as necessary.

 

·                      Stipulates that if the monies appropriated are used for leasing or construction the department of economic security will submit the scope estimated cost of the projects to the joint committee on capital review for its review before the expenditure of any monies.

 

·                      States that all monies that have not been spent may be reallocated to and used by any other offices previously listed.

 

·                      Exempts the appropriations from lapsing until June 30, 2007.
