HB 2303 makes an appropriation to the Department of Economic Security for a Navajo community project.

The proposed strike-everything amendment to HB 2303 provides for the following:

Appropriates one million dollars from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) block grant to the Department of Economic Security (DES).

Provisions

·                      Appropriates one million dollars from the TANF block grant in FY 2001-02 to the DES, for the purpose of entering into a contract with a nonprofit health agency to provide rehabilitation services and drug treatment to persons from ages twelve through twenty-five.

·                      Requires that the nonprofit agency is licensed in Arizona by both the DES and the Department of Health Services division of behavioral health.

·                      Exempts the contract between the DES and the nonprofit agency from the provisions of the Arizona Procurement Code.

·                      Exempts the appropriation from lapsing.

 

The strike-everything amendment to HB 2303 was adopted in the Native American Affairs Committee.
