HB 2300 adds a new statute regarding Navajo nation license plates and amends existing law dealing with license plates.

 

Provisions

·                      Requires that the Department of Motor Vehicles issue Navajo nation special plates by January 1, 2002.

·                      Specifies that of the $25 fee, eight dollars is a special plate administration fee and seventeen dollars is an annual donation.

·                      Stipulates that the DMV deposit all special plate administration fees into the state highway fund and all of the donations to the Navajo nation Department of Highway safety.

·                      Authorizes the Navajo nation to use these monies only for traffic control devices for highways on the reservation.

·                      Technical changes to current law regarding license plates to include proposed statute.

 

HB 2 300 passed the Native American Affairs Committee unamended.
