As Passed the House

HB 2281 allows the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) to utilize the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System’s (AHCCCS) rate structure for medical services performed outside an ADJC secure facility.

History

ADJC operates health care units within its secure care facilities to provide routine medical care and minor emergency assistance to confined juveniles.  For major medical procedures and emergencies, the juveniles are taken to off-site nearby medical facilities. ADJC pays full retail for all medical services.

Provisions

·                      Requires the ADJC to reimburse medical facilities for inpatient and outpatient hospital services at a level not to exceed that specified in AHCCCS statute.

·                      Requires ADJC to reimburse for off-site health and medical services at a level not to exceed that adopted by ACCCHS and in effect at the time services are delivered.

HB 2281 passed the Judiciary Committee unamended.
