HB 2274 specifies what types of currency are acceptable forms of bond payment.

History

            Current law does not require a sheriff or keeper of a county jail to accept any particular form of payment for bail bonds.

 

Provisions

·                      Requires the sheriff or keeper of a jail to accept a bail bond if the bond is in the form of cash, certified check, cashier’s check or an attorney trust account check.

 

HB 2274 was amended in the Judiciary Committee as follows:

 

·                      Deletes list of acceptable forms of payment.

 

·                      Makes technical and conforming changes.
