HB 2206 appropriates $500,000 from the general fund to the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records [ASLAPR] for cultural heritage grants, workshops and staff positions.
Arizona Statute provides for the establishment of the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records [ASLAPR] by the Legislature and outlines the library’s duties. The library provides services through seven divisions, which include braille and talking books, history and archives, library development, museums, record management, research library, and the state law library. In addition, the library staff provides training, technical assistance, and resource management throughout Arizona.
HB 2206
makes a one time allocation of $500,000 to ASLAPR in an effort to protect
Arizona’s resources and invest in its museums so that they will help expand the
economy. HB 2206 provides for ASLAPR
and the Arizona Humanities Council to provide the training and resources to
enable more libraries and museums to participate in the economic development of
Arizona.
